The World Circular Economy Forum 2024 (hereinafter referred to as WCEF) was held at the SQUARE Conference Centre in Brussels, Belgium, from April 15th to 18th. With the "Closed Loop Power Battery Solution", Huayou Recycling was selected as one of the outstanding circular economy cases, and was the only company that was selected as a finalist in the recycling of decommissioned power batteries.The World Circular Economy Forum 2024 (hereinafter referred to as WCEF) was held at the SQUARE Conference Centre in Brussels, Belgium, from April 15th to 18th.
The European and American operation team of Huayou Recycling had in-depth communication with many customers, exchanging views on the trend of circular economy, the new energy automobile industry's green and low-carbon transformation, as well as Huayou Recycling's low-carbon recycling ecological solution for lithium battery lifecycle management, expanding the space for future cooperation.
Huayou Recycling has been ploughing deep into the field of new energy vehicle power battery recycling for many years, adhering to the transformation strategy of "low-carbon, green and sustainable" and the open strategy of "build together, win the future together", and has made a deep layout of battery recycling at the social end to realise the global path of waste materials and used materials. We have built a closed-loop recycling system with the world's leading new energy vehicle brands, both at home and abroad.
High-pressure acid leaching process to extract valuable metals from battery materials
In terms of market development, we have expanded global resources and made substantial breakthroughs in overseas markets such as Japan, South Korea, Indonesia, Europe and the United States. In terms of technology R&D, we have carried out R&D co-operation with Germany's HOPPECKE and Fraunhofer Institute for Applied Research, and joined the Global Battery Alliance (GBA), forming an open global R&D and innovation ecosystem. We adopt the disposal path of "cascade utilisation followed by recycling", relying on the advantages of the integrated industrial chain of our parent company Huayou Cobalt to provide customers with closed-loop solutions for key raw materials; we have independently developed core technologies such as atmospheric pressure and high-pressure leaching process for black powder recovery, and priority lithium extraction by pyrometallurgy method, and have obtained a total of 45 patents, achieving a comprehensive recovery rate of 98.5% for cobalt-nickel-manganese, and an overall recovery rate of 98% for cobalt-nickel-manganese. The comprehensive recovery rate of cobalt, nickel and manganese is 98.5%, and the lithium metal recovery rate is over 90%.
As an annual event on the world's circular economy, the Forum explores core issues such as material needs and solutions for the energy transition, European and global policies, investment and innovation perspectives, and showcases influential circular solutions from around the globe, guided by the latest scientific evidence. The Forum aims to facilitate targeted discussions around governance, finance, people and jobs, and business and innovation - the key enablers driving the implementation of circular solutions on the ground.
